FPL AC Rebates in Sanford, Florida

Florida Power & Light, not Duke Energy, serves Sanford — Seminole County's own utility list assigns FPL to “Sanford, Lake Mary & Heathrow.” FPL's Residential HVAC Program pays $200 per qualifying unit, delivered as a credit on the installer's invoice rather than a rebate you file yourself.

FPL, not Duke — and why that matters here

UTILITY

Every Duke Energy rebate page you find while researching a Florida AC replacement is describing a different utility’s program. Seminole County’s own utility contact list assigns an FPL service representative to Sanford, Lake Mary and Heathrow, and lists Duke separately for other parts of the county — Duke’s tiers described elsewhere do not apply here.

How the $200 rebate actually works

MECHANICS

Per FPL's Residential HVAC Program Standards (effective 1 September 2025): the rebate is paid by a Participating Independent Contractor as an itemized credit on the installation invoice, not mailed to the homeowner. It requires an active FPL residential account, no rebate on the same system within the past two years, AHRI-certified and UL-listed equipment, and a complete replacement — condenser, blower, evaporator coil and any supplemental devices. Window units and single-zone mini splits are excluded, and replacing only some components does not qualify.

FPL states the efficiency bar as a formula — SEER2 “equal to or greater than one point above current federal efficiency standards” — not a fixed number.

Why this page does not lead with a bigger number

HONEST

$200 is a real credit worth having on a replacement you were already making, not a reason to replace a working system. It is also smaller than the Duke tiers quoted elsewhere in this market — because Duke does not bill Sanford. The full repair-or-replace framework covers both utilities for the handful of Sanford addresses that may sit on Duke territory.
